Neighborhood Street Signs

The neighborhood street signs are up!

The neighborhood street signs were installed last week and our project has now come to fruition. On Monday, December 15, 2014, the City of Tucson sign crew came to install our signs. It has been an inspired project, and many need to be thanked.

Neighborhood Yard Sale - Fund Raising for Street Signs

On Saturday, August 23, 2014, the Poets Square Neighborhood Association is holding a Neighborhood Yard Sale

To raise funds for the street signs, we are asking neighbors to host their own yard sale and contribute 25-50% of their proceeds to the PSNA street sign project.

PSNA will be hosting this event by placing signs at prominent locations around the neighborhood, posting an announcement on NextDoor.com, and advertising on Craig's List.

If you have a few items that you want to donate to PSNA, call 301-4103 and we will arrange for your items to be sold at one of our yard sales.

If you have YARD SALE signs hanging around your garage and want to help us out, we could use them out on any of the external streets.

The official time is from 7:00 AM until 1:00 PM, but some sales are starting earlier and finishing later.

Good luck and Thank you!

Let's sell stuff!

Coyote Sightings

Multiple neighbors have reported seeing a coyote in Poets' Square Neighborhood. While it is exciting to see wildlife from a distance, you may be concerned about the well-being of your pets. For more information about urban coyotes and how to coexist with them, see these pages: http://www.azgfd.gov/w_c/urban_coyote.shtml http://www.azgfd.gov/pdfs/h_f/urban_coyote_faq.pdf

Please join us on Tuesday, December 9th at 6pm for our Winter Meeting & Potluck at the multi-purpose building at Peter Howell Elementary, 401 N Irving. Join us for free food, free plants, neighborhood updates and good company. A guest speaker will also be attending, Jonathan Mabry, Tucson Historic Neighborhood Officer, discussing the process of obtaining historic neighborhood status.

Pro Neighborhood Grant

We did it! PSNA received a grant in the amount of $3,350 from PRO Neighborhoods to continue our efforts re-vegetating the Midway Wash, expand street tree plantings and construct a neighborhood bulletin board and ramada. Here are a few ways how you can get involved:
1. Order a free street tree (Palo Verde, Desert Ironwood, Desert Willow, Catclaw Acacia - while supplies last)
2. Help water our trees and shrubs in the Midway Wash (see next topic)
3. Assist with the construction of a neighborhood bulletin board and ramada
4. Take part in a neighborhood tree planting event

More Midway Wash Plantings

Have you noticed the latest plantings in the Midway Wash yet? This past month, over 20 neighbors pitched in to plant several dozen trees and shrubs, continuing the re-vegetation process toward Broadway. If you missed out on the planting event, you can still help out. Neighbors are needed to help donate a small amount of time every month or other month to assist with watering these tree and shrubs during their first year.
