Halloween in PSNA

The Midway Wash Project Committee and the Poets' Square Neighborhood Association Board would like to extend our thanks to all those who helped make our Halloween Block Party a smashing success! It was wonderful to visit with neighbors, listen to live music, snack on good food, and watch the kids enjoy all the festivities! A big pat on the back goes to all those who helped plan the party and volunteered their time the day of the event. Poets' Square, we may have a tradition in the making! Much thanks to our neighbors!

Demonstration Garden Complete!

Thanks to all the neighbors who pitched in to build the demonstration garden at the corner of Burns and Catalina. Now all we need is a little rain to take advantage of the rainwater-collecting berms and basins. With this, the final part of our PRO Neighborhoods grant is completed. A special thank you to Joanie Sawyer at PRO for all her support along the way. Check out our new community board in the accompanying photo.

Poets Square Winter Meeting/Potluck
Please join us on Tuesday, December 9th at 6pm for our Winter Meeting & Potluck at the multi-purpose building at Peter Howell Elementary, 401 N Irving. Join us for free food, free plants, neighborhood updates and good company. A guest speaker will also be attending, Jonathan Mabry, Tucson Historic Neighborhood Officer, discussing the process of obtaining historic neighborhood status.

Pro Neighborhood Grant

We did it! PSNA received a grant in the amount of $3,350 from PRO Neighborhoods to continue our efforts re-vegetating the Midway Wash, expand street tree plantings and construct a neighborhood bulletin board and ramada. Here are a few ways how you can get involved:
1. Order a free street tree (Palo Verde, Desert Ironwood, Desert Willow, Catclaw Acacia - while supplies last)
2. Help water our trees and shrubs in the Midway Wash (see next topic)
3. Assist with the construction of a neighborhood bulletin board and ramada
4. Take part in a neighborhood tree planting event

More Midway Wash Plantings

Have you noticed the latest plantings in the Midway Wash yet? This past month, over 20 neighbors pitched in to plant several dozen trees and shrubs, continuing the re-vegetation process toward Broadway. If you missed out on the planting event, you can still help out. Neighbors are needed to help donate a small amount of time every month or other month to assist with watering these tree and shrubs during their first year.
